October Update

0 min read
Bit of an update, I can't believe times goes by so fast! Right so in short, lost my job in the last month, unemployed at the moment but totally determined to be an artist professionally! Went to Dublin International Comic Expo and got to see Marvel and DC artists and wow! Amazing and totally inspiring! So I've given myself a deadline of 5 years to make this happen. Might be more than that but I am determined! So I'm trying to be more systematic in learning and practising. October is figure drawing month with a minimum goal of 100 drawings! Will have more than 100 at the rate I'm going. I'm also sketching from the masters and doing colour stu

August Update

I've decided against doing that course. It was more of a mentor-ship and I still have so much to learn, I'll get much more out of it if I do it at a later time. Quite expensive too! So, thanks to some very good direction by a really nice DA member who took time to point me in the right direction, I've started learning like crazy. Some of the resources I use are Pencil Kings (still need to finish the free drawing faces course!), CtrlPaint (which is really awesome!), Proko (equally awesome!) and have recently gotten some Glen Vilppu DVDs on the language of drawing. I've gotten through a few of them and am very excited about the series! I've be

hey how goes all the art?? are you still at NCAD??
Hey Joanne!! Sorry, I just saw your message there! Yeah, I'm still at NCAD, got a 1 year contract so I'm working full time now. Still trying to fit in art, going to life drawing twice a week so and started to draw sequential pages. Need to learn how to tell a story visually! Other than that, I'm writing a comic book story and people seem to like the initial outline. It's gonna be a mix between The Mummy, Tomb Raider and Supernatural. Going to lots of comic book related events and meeting people in the industry here :) Gonna prepare a portfolio of work for the convention in September in Dundrum, DICE. That's super scary but I want feedback from people who are way better than me! Only way I can improve!

Anyhoo, how are you? How are you keepin?
